Saugeen First Nation Weekly Vaccine Update – VACCINATION STATISTICS AS OF TUESDAY, SEPT. 7TH

As of September 22nd, 2021, unless you’re fully vaccinated (two doses + 14 days), you won’t be able to access the following non-essential services: indoor restaurants/bars, nightclubs, meeting and event spaces, facilities used for sports/fitness activities/personal training (unless it’s youth recreational sport – i.e. those that are unable to get vaccinated yet), sporting events, casinos/bingo halls/gambling establishments, concerts/music festivals/theatres/cinemas, and racing venues.

With the new vaccine mandate getting closer, these are some timelines you may want to consider:

Scenario 1: waiting until the vaccine mandate is in place on September 22nd to get vaccinated

  • First dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on September 22nd (when the vaccine mandate is in place)
  • Second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on October 13th (21 days after your first dose)
  • Considered fully vaccinated on October 27th (14 days after your second dose)
  • That’s 35 days with absolutely no access to these non-essential services.

If the only reason why you haven’t been vaccinated yet is that you’re waiting for the mandate to take place, it’s in your best interest to get it earlier rather than later if you wish to access these services.

Scenario 2: getting vaccinated at the Health Centre’s clinic this Thursday, September 9th.

  • First dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on September 9th
  • Second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on September 30th (21 days after your first dose)
  • Considered fully vaccinated on October 14th (14 days after your second dose)
  • That’s only 22 days with no access to these services instead of 35 days (scenario 1).

If you’re looking for more information on the COVID-19 vaccine or if you’re looking to book an appointment please call the Health Centre (519-797-3336) or email the COVID-19 Safety Coordinator (tara.campbell@saugeen.org). Chi-Miigwetch.
