ONTARIO ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO PROOF OF VACCINATION SYSTEM AS IT EXTENDS PROGRAM INDEFINITELY.

At 2pm today the Ontario Government gave a COVID-19 update as we head into the holiday season. Here is a summary of the updates:

  • As of December 20th, youth 12-17 years old will need to show proof of vaccination to partake in organized sports
  • The government is asking the public to not host gatherings with more than 10 people, however, this is not a mandated restriction at this time
  • As of January 4th, the original vaccine receipts will no longer be accepted. Moving forward individuals will need to prove their vaccination status by using the enhanced vaccine certificate that contains the QR code. Both paper copies and electronic copies of the QR code will be accepted. This is due to fraudulent vaccine receipts that have been circulating. Please see “How to Access and Save Your Enhanced Vaccine Certificate” to get yours as soon as possible.
  • The government will be expanding the COVID-19 vaccine booster eligibility in the upcoming weeks
